Hailing from Iceland, Samaris is an electronic trio composed of Áslaug Rún Magnúsdóttir (clarinet)
Jófríður Ákadóttir (vocals), and Þórður Kári Steinþórsson (electronics). The three-piece released their debut album, Samaris this past summer. "Viltu Vitrast" is a single from their debut album, check it out below.
Can you explain the meaning of your lyrics to me as a non-Icelandic speaker?
"Some of them use the lyrics of old Icelandic songs and poems. The poems are so well put together, they are so beautiful and go together so well, they just fit the music."
Are all the songs are based on these poems?
"Yes all of them, well the concepts are. We have all these great lyrics and poems in our culture so why not use them because they are forgotten so why not try to use them rather than write our own lyrics which will not be so perfect." -Musika.
