Labyrinth Ear is a London-based electro-pop duo composed of Emily (vocals and production) and Tom (production). They have two EP's out- Apparitions (released February 2012) and Oak (released in January 2011). "Humbles Bones" is the last track on Apparitions and was brought to my attention via a mix CD from my boyfriend. :-) Looks like they have been touring around Europe this summer- hopefully there is new music material coming in the near future!
HAIM is composed of three sisters (Este, Danielle, & Alana) from Southern California and drummer, Dash Hutton. "The Wire" is a track from their upcoming album, Days Are Gone out September 30, 2013. "The Wire" reminds me of a 90's feel-good tune that would be playing as I wake up in the morning and dance to the kitchen to drink my morning orange juice full of sunshine- even after a break-up. Including additional pictures of the sisters rockin' out was a must. Here's an artist suggestion from my dad- American folk artist, Aoife O'Donovan. She's the lead singer for the bluegrass band, Crooked Still and a member of the folk-trio, Sometymes Why. Thanks Dad! I love you! Daughter's new single, "Smoke" is a powerful track- Elena Tonra's clean vocals and vivid, dramatic lyrics as well as the intense progression of emotion throughout the track is captivating especially when it reaches its culmination @ 3:30. I highly recommend checking out Daughter's debut album, If You Leave, released March 2013. "We Hit a Wall" is a track off Chelsea Wolfe's third upcoming album, Pain is Beauty- out September 3, 2013. With a hauntingly beautiful and dark enchanting sound "We Hit a Wall" and Pain is Beauty embodies a melancholic and magical fairytale. Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, Sharon Van Etten (one of my top five favorite artists) performs new music material with KEXP Seattle @ Pickathon near Portland, Oregon. Van Etten states, "When I write, it's to heal. It's my own self-therapy so that I don't actually feel sad all of the time. The only thing that's helped me get through some really hard times was just being able to write and express- it's very cathartic for me. I'm hoping that, by writing and performing for other people, it affects them the same way." Cults (singer Madeline Follin and guitarist Brian Oblivion) released the single, "I Can Hardly Make You Mine" from their upcoming new album, Static- out October 15th, 2013. According to a press bio, the album title, Static, was inspired by "a feeling our generation has. The feeling there’s always something better around the corner, that everyone is born to be a star. The feeling that life is waiting for you, and yet it’s not happening. All of that is static." On September 3, 2013 Emily Reo will release her new album, Olive Juice. "Coast"- an 8-minute dream pop creation composed of twirling loops, steady drum lines, extraterrestrial keys, and whimsical vocals will leave you seeing stars. As the leader of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O's artistic voice shines through on this new track, The Moon Song for Spike Jonze's new film, Her. Jonze and Karen O have worked together before, she created the score for Where the Wild Things Are. New music from Karen O is always a pleasure- The Moon Song is free to download for the first 10,000 downloaders, enjoy! Check out the new track from rising Danish singer MØ (Karen Marie Ørsted)- with a total of five released tracks (Maiden, Pilgrim, Glass, Waste of Time, and XXX 88) her future looks very bright indeed. |
